We’re looking for an experienced Technical Manager to join a UK food manufacturer. This is a senior role where you’ll be the driving force behind product quality, safety, and compliance – ensuring every product meets the highest standards from raw material intake through to finished goods delivery.
As Technical Manager, you’ll oversee the Technical, Quality, and Hygiene teams, lead on food safety and quality systems, and play a key role in maintaining BRC and other industry accreditations. You’ll also partner with NPD and Production to bring exciting new products to market, while promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities- Lead food safety, quality, and compliance to BRC, HACCP, GMP, and customer standards.
- Manage and continually improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Own and maintain product specifications, ensuring compliance with legislation and customer requirements.
- Work closely with NPD, Quality, and Production on new product development, including trials, shelf‑life studies, and product launches.
- Lead and develop the Technical, Quality, and Hygiene teams.
- Ensure full compliance with food industry regulations and legislation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, supporting audits and resolving technical queries.
- Oversee technical processes to optimise production efficiency and product integrity.
- Act as site lead during customer and regulatory audits, driving best practice and compliance.
We’re seeking a proactive Technical Manager who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent leadership and communication skills. You’ll need:
- Proven experience in a senior technical/QA role within food manufacturing (confectionery experience a plus).
- Strong working knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, GMP, and food legislation.
- Experience managing audits, accreditations, and customer requirements.
- A track record of leading and developing teams.
- Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills.
- Confidence working cross‑functionally with production, supply chain, engineering, and commercial teams.
