The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative/reporting procedures, and people/systems in place to effectively grow the company and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. The COO is the company's second-in-command and is responsible for driving sustainable growth, collaborating with the CEO and Board, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Management
    • Lead and oversee business support functions on a day-to-day basis to deliver high quality services to clients and stakeholders.
    • Provide training, coaching and mentoring to team members on an ongoing basis and ensure teams maintain competence in relation to legal and regulatory issues.
    • Monitor and provide guidance on adequate staffing levels for the business to ensure that we are meeting customer demands and service levels.
  • Collaboration
    • Work with teams to ensure delivery against the strategic direction set by the CEO and Board.
    • Set clear targets, financial planning and risk management.
    • Collaborate with Production, Commercial, Document Services, IT, Projects (Reception) to ensure effective processes exist and are maintained for all business activities.
    • Understand the business aspects of technology, formulate priorities and work with the IT team to deliver against these priorities.
    • Work alongside Compliance and HR teams to interpret business policy and design effective quality assurance processes.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify and implement solutions to issues in Production, Commercial, Document Services, IT, and Projects (Reception) areas.
    • Ensure robust data is available to monitor business performance and support strategic decision making.
    • Proactively monitor internal and external trends to shape products and service offerings.
    • Maintain and develop own skills, knowledge and behaviours while keeping up to date with regulatory standards and changes.
  • Growth
    • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances, etc.); assist in raising additional capital at appropriate valuations.
  • Reporting
    • Provide regular clear reporting to the CEO and other relevant stakeholders on business and team performance in line with business objectives.
  • Relationship Management
    • Manage relationships with partners, suppliers and clients as the professional face of the business.
