We are working with a multinational food manufacturer as they expand their internal packaging division. This is a truly exciting opportunity for a packaging development professional to work with some of the most well-known brands in the world. As an Associate Engineer in Packaging Development, you will deliver new packaging designs and global development projects, from concept to implementation in our factory network and beyond. The focus is on identifying and delivering innovation opportunities which can be scaled globally, working to deliver packaging solutions to achieve ambitious sustainability goals.

What are we looking for?

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant technical discipline (Packaging, Engineering, Material Sciences, Product Design etc) OR relevant prior technical experience (ideally within FMCG)
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and managing projects, in the areas of packaging materials, including flexibles, rigid plastic, cartons, and cases and understanding of packaging sciences, packaging development, packaging legislation, food processing and production
  • Experience in working with outside vendors to deliver project requirements desirable
  • Well-developed persuasion and influencing skills with associates at all levels

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • Owning the technical packaging design and development for a variety of projects across different product categories to support Growth and Sustainability
  • Creating packaging prototypes and designs that ensure successful line trials, co-packer and co-manufacturing sites, making sure the relevant documentation is produced and results are accurately recorded
  • Working with global cross-functional teams, employing ‘design thinking’ to deliver Desirable, Viable, Feasible and Sustainable packaging innovation pipelines
  • Collaborating with the wider packaging development teams to assist in the development of packaging standards in close cooperation with Q&FS, Suppliers and external organisations
