A leading, national construction consultancy needs an experienced CDM / Principal Designer Consultant to join its growing team in its Cranfield office - between Bedford and Milton Keynes. This consultancy provides extensive, complex, and innovative consultancy services in the high-end commercial, education, healthcare, and residential sectors.

The successful CDM / Principal Designer will focus on CDM compliance and promoting top-tier health and safety standards. Working closely with clients, designers, and contractors to bring safety to the forefront of each project, you will lead this function for the South of the UK.

  • Act as CDM Consultant or Principal Designer on a variety of construction schemes
  • Advise Clients and Designers on CDM and health and safety compliance
  • Compile crucial project documentation
  • Conduct site safety inspections on a variety of sites on behalf of clients or contractors
  • Manage a portfolio of projects for Clients, PDs, and other CDM duty-holders

This is a new role responding to demand from clients. You will lead the function for the South of the UK with a view to eventually growing and leading a team.

Ideally, the successful CDM / Principal Designer will have experience with both Main Contractors and Construction Consultancies, understanding all aspects of the industry:

  • 5+ years relevant construction-related experience
  • Ideally Chartered Membership
  • NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction
  • Additional related H&S certification
  • Ideally Fire Risk Assessor Level 3
  • Management experience is an advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel
  • Keen to grow and lead a team over the medium to long term
