Job Purpose
To provide effective, responsive and professional HR generalist support across HarrisonParrott and its associated companies. The postholder will lead the day-to-day delivery of HR operations, providing expert advice and guidance to managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle. They will oversee recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, HR systems, compliance and policy implementation, ensuring that people processes, documentation and records are managed consistently, accurately and in line with company policies and employment legislation.
Working closely with an external HR consultancy, the role will support the delivery of strategic people initiatives while drawing on specialist expertise for complex employee relations matters, organisational change, employment law advice and broader people strategy. The postholder will act as a trusted partner to managers, helping to foster a positive workplace culture and delivering a high-quality HR service that supports the organisation's long-term objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- HR operations and employee support
- Act as a key internal HR contact for employees and line managers, providing timely guidance or signposting on HR policies, procedures and processes.
- Support day-to-day HR administration, correspondence and record keeping across the employee lifecycle.
- Coordinate starters, leavers, changes to employment, probation, absence and leave processes, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information professionally.
- Escalate complex or higher-risk matters to the CFO or external advisers as appropriate.
- Employee relations and manager guidance
- Support managers with employee relations matters, including probation, absence, performance, conduct and informal workplace concerns.
- Prepare letters, meeting notes, review documentation and follow-up actions under guidance where required.
- Provide practical guidance to managers on applying policies consistently and fairly.
- Track ER actions, deadlines and follow-up points so matters are progressed effectively.
- Identify where specialist HR or employment law guidance is required.
- Recruitment and selection
- Coordinate recruitment processes, including job description preparation, advertising, candidate communication, longlisting, interview scheduling and administration.
- Support hiring managers with shortlisting documentation, assessment tasks, interview packs and recruitment records.
- Ensure recruitment processes are inclusive, consistent and aligned with agreed recruitment guidance.
- Use the applicant tracker system to progress recruitment and track and maintain recruitment records.
- Coordinate offers, references, new starter information and associated recruitment administration.
- Onboarding, induction and employee lifecycle
- Coordinate onboarding activity, including HRIS setup, new starter welcome information, induction schedules and relevant employee documentation.
- Work with Operations, IT, Finance and line managers to support smooth employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Ensure new starter files, references, contracts, job descriptions and related records are stored appropriately.
- Support probationary review processes, including reminders, forms, manager guidance and confirmation letters.
- Help managers and employees navigate HRIS self-service processes, leave requests and personal data updates.
- HRIS, data and reporting
- Maintain accurate HR records in the HRIS and associated HR folders, including contracts, job descriptions, leave, absence, probation and performance documents.
- Support HRIS administration and the transition or improvement of HR systems where required.
- Produce routine HR reports and data checks for absence, recruitment, onboarding, probation and employee records.
- Ensure HR information is handled securely and in line with data protection requirements.
- Policy, handbook and HR projects
- Support the review, maintenance and publication of HR policies, handbook content, HR Hub guidance and employee communications.
- Assist with people projects including performance review processes, training coordination, wellbeing initiatives and HR process improvements.
- Prepare employee communications, templates, guidance notes and process documents.
- Keep HR guidance practical, accessible and consistent for managers and employees.
- General
- Build positive working relationships with colleagues across HarrisonParrott and associated companies.
- Maintain a professional, responsive and service-focused approach to HR queries.
- Provide administrative and project support across the HR function as required.
- Undertake ad hoc duties consistent with the role and level of responsibility.
