Non-Executive Director – Risk Committee Chair
Insurance | Non-Executive | £25,000 per annum
A leading insurance business is seeking an experienced Non-Executive Director to Chair its Risk Committee and join its Board.
This appointment will play a key role in providing independent oversight, constructive challenge and strategic guidance, ensuring the business maintains a robust risk management framework and strong corporate governance. The successful individual will also serve as a member of the Audit Committee.
Key Responsibilities
- Chair the Risk Committee, ensuring it operates effectively and provides appropriate oversight.
- Provide independent challenge and input on business strategy and risk management.
- Review the effectiveness of the company's risk framework, controls and governance arrangements.
- Assess the integrity of financial reporting and risk management systems.
- Review quarterly risk reporting and advise the Board on emerging risks.
- Work closely with Executive leadership and fellow Non-Executive Directors to support sound decision making.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of the SMF10 – Chair of the Risk Committee under the Senior Managers Regime.
About You
You’ll be an experienced senior risk leader with:
- Board-level experience within the insurance sector.
- Previous experience chairing or serving on a Risk Committee.
- A strong understanding of corporate governance and UK insurance regulation.
- The ability to provide independent, objective challenge while building strong working relationships.
- Excellent judgement, integrity and credibility with senior stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks and governance best practice.
Commitment
- Approximately 8 days per year, including quarterly Board and Risk Committee meetings, together with preparation time.
- Annual renewable appointment.
- Fee: £25,000 per annum.
