An established global specialty insurance and risk advisory business is seeking a senior leader to build and scale its North American Retail Construction practice. This is a high‑growth opportunity for an entrepreneurial construction insurance professional who wants to shape a business line with significant institutional backing, existing client relationships, and international expansion potential. The role will focus on expanding beyond a traditional wholesale construction portfolio into complex retail‑led solutions across large‑scale infrastructure and commercial construction projects, including marquee developments valued up to $1B+.

This position offers the opportunity to create a market‑leading platform with access to an existing North American client base, cross‑functional specialist teams, and global resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of a North American retail construction growth strategy.
  • Build and manage a diversified construction portfolio spanning complex commercial, infrastructure, and large project risks.
  • Develop relationships with retail brokers, owners, developers, contractors, and key market stakeholders.
  • Identify and win new business opportunities across major project placements and specialty construction programs.
  • Collaborate with internal property, casualty, and specialty teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Leverage existing North American client relationships and internal distribution capabilities to accelerate growth.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high‑performing construction team, including junior and emerging talent.
  • Represent the business in the market through client engagement, industry events, and strategic partnerships.
  • Work closely with executive leadership on long‑term business planning, profitability, and international expansion initiatives.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical construction expertise with a proven ability to build relationships and grow business in a highly entrepreneurial environment.

Experience & Background
  • Significant experience within construction insurance or risk advisory, ideally across retail brokerage and/or carrier environments.
  • Strong market credibility within North American construction.
  • Demonstrated success handling complex or large‑scale construction placements.
  • Experience developing new business lines, teams, or geographic expansion initiatives.
  • Existing broker, developer, contractor, or owner relationships preferred.
  • Comfortable operating in a growth‑oriented, build‑out environment.
