Job Description

Existing Business Underwriter

Location: London (Hybrid, 3 days per week) or Remote (for experienced candidates)About the Opportunity An established and highly respected specialist MGA is looking to appoint an Existing Business Underwriter to join its growing underwriting team.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a collaborative, customer-focused business with a strong reputation in the High Net Worth and Private Client market.

The successful candidate will manage an existing portfolio, build lasting broker relationships and play a key role in delivering exceptional underwriting service while maximising client retention.

Whether you're an experienced HNW Underwriter or a broker with strong HNW experience looking to move into underwriting, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career within a supportive and expanding business.

The Role As an Existing Business Underwriter, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing business, providing brokers with an outstanding level of service and ensuring all work is completed within agreed service levels.

Key responsibilities include: Managing renewals from invitation through to completion.

Processing mid-term adjustments and cancellations.

Handling broker renewal and policy queries efficiently.

Building and maintaining strong broker relationships.

Taking a pragmatic underwriting approach to maximise retention.

Acting as a referral point for colleagues with lower underwriting authority.

Operating within your underwriting authority and company guidelines.

Working closely with colleagues to deliver excellent customer outcomes.

Identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance service delivery.

Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.

About You To be successful, you will ideally have: Previous High Net Worth or Non-Standard Household underwriting experience.

Alternatively, strong HNW broking experience with exposure to underwriting.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Strong commercial underwriting judgement.

A proactive and customer-focused approach.

The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure.

Good organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

Dip CII or ACII qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
