Are you an experienced underwriter with a passion for engineering and construction risks? We're looking for a Senior Engineering & Construction Underwriter to a market leading insurer to help drive profitable growth across a diverse portfolio of complex and high-value projects.
In this role, you'll take ownership of underwriting and managing a broad range of engineering and construction risks - from Contractors All Risks (CAR) and Erection All Risks (EAR) to contractors' plant and engineering operational covers. You'll use your technical expertise and commercial acumen to assess, price, and negotiate terms, while building strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal partners.
What you'll do:
- Underwrite and manage a portfolio of engineering and construction business.
- Evaluate, price, and negotiate new and renewal risks in line with underwriting appetite.
- Collaborate with risk engineers, claims, and actuarial teams to ensure robust decision-making.
- Monitor market developments and contribute to underwriting strategy.
- Mentor junior underwriters and support team development.
What we're looking for:
- Significant experience underwriting engineering and/or construction risks with a background at another insurer or syndicate.
- Strong technical knowledge of CAR, EAR, and related products.
- Proven ability to deliver profitable results and build broker relationships.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
