We're partnering with a leading Global Insurance Broker to appoint an Assurance & Governance Lead into a highly visible role within the Operations Controls function. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced governance or assurance professional looking for a broad, people-led role with real ownership, leadership responsibility and exposure across critical operational control activities. This is less focused on pure risk and regulatory advisory, and more centred around operational assurance, governance oversight, controls effectiveness and team leadership β ideal for someone with transferable insurance, operations controls, delegated authority or assurance experience.
This is a broad and varied leadership role with line management responsibility and oversight of a diverse control and governance agenda, including:
- Leading governance and assurance activity across operational controls
- Oversight of Quality Assurance, Customer Documentation, Contract Management and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Managing activities relating to Overseas Offices, Brexit model oversight, action tracking and assurance reviews
- Coordinating and overseeing internal and external audits, including SOX, CASS and Coverholder audits
- Providing oversight of Delegated Authority controls and assurance testing programmes
- Leading communications and outcomes testing, customer feedback reviews and governance reporting
- Supporting continuous improvement of control frameworks, processes and operational standards
- Managing and developing a team, providing leadership, coaching and direction across key control activities
Embed and enhance governance frameworks and assurance processes across the function. Drive oversight and control effectiveness across multiple operational workstreams. Lead assurance reviews, monitor actions through to completion and ensure robust governance reporting. Coordinate audit activity and act as a central point of oversight for control-related reviews. Partner with stakeholders across operations and the wider business to improve customer outcomes and strengthen controls. Support and challenge teams to ensure consistency, quality and adherence to agreed standards. Play a key role in shaping a strong controls environment while managing a broad and evolving remit.
You'll bring:
- Strong governance and assurance experience in insurance or financial services
- A practical, hands-on approach to operational controls and continuous improvement
- Experience coordinating audits, assurance reviews and governance reporting
- Confidence managing stakeholders and providing challenge where needed
- Leadership capability, with experience managing people and overseeing delivery across multiple activities
- A pragmatic, organised and solutions-focused approach
Broad, visible leadership role with real ownership. Opportunity to lead and shape a growing controls function. Diverse remit spanning assurance, governance and operational oversight. Strong hybrid flexibility. Excellent long-term career potential within a global broker. If you enjoy improving controls, leading teams and bringing structure and assurance to complex operations, this is a genuinely exciting opportunity to make an impact.
