The Opportunity

We are working with a well-established and growing insurance brokerage seeking an experienced Commercial Account Executive with a strong background in construction risks. This is an excellent opportunity for a relationship-driven professional who enjoys managing and developing client relationships while working with a wide range of construction-related businesses, from contractors and developers through to specialist trades and associated sectors. The role offers the flexibility of predominantly remote working, with occasional visits to the Hertfordshire office for team meetings, strategy sessions and collaboration. Due to the nature of the client base and office attendance requirements, candidates should ideally be based within the Home Counties or wider South East region.

The Role

As a Commercial Account Executive, you will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of construction clients, delivering tailored insurance solutions and providing trusted advice throughout the client lifecycle. You will work closely with internal broking and support teams while maintaining strong relationships with insurers and key stakeholders across the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop an existing portfolio of construction sector clients.
  • Identify opportunities to grow revenue through cross-selling and upselling insurance solutions.
  • Generate and convert new business opportunities within the construction market.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers and key industry contacts.
  • Advise clients on their insurance and risk management requirements.
  • Negotiate terms, cover and premiums with insurers to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
  • Conduct client meetings, presentations and renewal reviews.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in line with FCA regulations and company compliance procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to deliver exceptional client service.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Account Executive, Account Director or similar client-facing insurance role.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, with particular expertise in construction-related risks.
  • Experience handling policies such as Contractors All Risks, Liability, Property, Professional Indemnity and associated commercial lines products.
  • Demonstrable track record of retaining and growing a client portfolio.
  • Strong insurer market relationships and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working remotely with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Cert CII, Dip CII or ACII qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
  • Ideally based within the Home Counties or South East region, with the ability to travel to Hertfordshire when required.
