We are seeking an experienced Assurance & Governance Lead to join a leading Global Insurance Broker within the Operations Controls function. This is a first line of defence role, ideal for a hands-on professional with practical experience delivering governance and assurance activity across complex operational and regulatory programmes. The role will focus on strengthening governance frameworks, embedding assurance processes, and driving operational compliance, while providing oversight and direction to stakeholders across multiple workstreams. This is a permanent role, offering long-term exposure to high-profile regulatory and operational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead first-line governance and assurance activity within the Operations Controls function, ensuring consistent application of standards and regulatory expectations.
- Develop, maintain, and embed governance frameworks, policies, and procedures across operational teams.
- Monitor and review compliance with internal controls, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct audits, gap analyses, and process reviews to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Produce management information, reports, and updates on governance and assurance activity for senior stakeholders.
- Act as the first point of contact for regulatory queries and governance matters within the Operations Controls function.
Product Governance (Initial Focus)
- Own and coordinate product governance activities, ensuring timely delivery and effective oversight of operational reviews.
- Provide guidance, challenge, and direction to stakeholders to ensure compliance with governance standards.
- Embed product governance best practices across business units, ensuring consistent application and ongoing monitoring.
- Respond to regulatory and internal queries, escalating issues where required.
Programme Support β Assured Partners Integration
- Provide governance and assurance support to complex integration programmes, ensuring regulatory and operational risks are managed effectively.
- Coordinate and prioritise regulatory and governance-related workstreams, providing practical solutions to keep activity moving forward.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring processes and controls evolve with changing business and regulatory requirements.
Operational Oversight & Team Management
- Manage day-to-day operations in support areas, ensuring conformance with governance frameworks and operational standards.
- Support, coach, and guide team members to ensure consistent delivery and adherence to controls.
- Monitor workload, output, and performance, identifying and addressing any gaps in operational compliance.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in governance, assurance, or product governance within regulated insurance or financial services environments.
- Strong first line of defence experience; hands-on delivery of governance and assurance frameworks.
- Experience managing or overseeing operational/support teams, with a focus on compliance and operational standards.
- Skilled at producing reports, performing audits, and implementing process improvements.
- Confident stakeholder manager, able to challenge and influence effectively at all levels.
- Experience supporting integration, change, or transformation initiatives within complex organisations.
