We are now looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team in Preston.

About The Role

This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the firm by supporting a wide range of financial processes linked to both client work and internal operations. You’ll be joining a collaborative, friendly team where accuracy, communication, and a proactive approach are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring incoming monies, updating internal spreadsheets, and notifying fee earners to ensure timely allocation to client files
  • Administration and reconciliation of petty cash
  • Processing client and office accounting transactions from the posting queue
  • Acting as second authoriser for bank payments
  • Preparing manual cheques
  • Managing batch imports for client disbursements and postings
  • Monitoring the accounts inbox and resolving queries as they arise

Essential Experience

  • Hands‑on experience of financial processes
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within the legal sector

Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • Experience using fully integrated financial systems
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
