Join Harrison Drury Solicitors ā a marketāleading law firm with offices across the North West, Cumbria, and Staffordshire, servicing both business and private clients.
The overall purpose of this role is to provide accurate, timely, efficient and professional support to the commercial property team in Lancaster, with occasional travel to the Preston office. The role involves transactional feeāearning activities and ensures compliance with regulatory standards while delivering excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Effective administration of files (hard copy and on SOS), including opening, closing, archiving and data updates.
- Ensuring file compliance with relevant regulatory standards and the Office Manual processes.
- Using client file information to inform the fee earner of required action, maintaining critical dates and taking action as required.
- Managing the bill process and interacting with Finance.
- Producing and issuing correspondence upon instruction from the fee earner and, where appropriate, under supervision.
- Attending meetings when required, taking minutes when requested and updating attendance notes.
- Drafting documents for clients upon instruction from fee earners and under supervision.
- Managing meetings for fee earners when requested (including liaising with other parties, booking meeting rooms, car parks and producing relevant materials/documents).
- Handling telephone calls for the team.
- Coāordinating client queries with the fee earner.
- Dealing with new enquiries on phone or by email.
- Engaging individuals on work experience.
- Completing accurate legal research tasks for fee earners.
- Preparing relevant legal updates and blog articles for the website.
- Contributing to operational review and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Providing administrative support to the department, including obtaining searches, downloading Land Registry documents, information maintenance, file management, financial management, preparing posting slips and bills.
Skills and Experience
- Previous role as a paralegal in commercial property or residential property.
- Intermediate/Advanced use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Intermediate/Advanced use of Adobe Acrobat.
- Intermediate/Advanced use of LexisNexis, Westlaw, and/or Practical Law.
- Strong academic record; Maths and English GCSE at grade C or above.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong planning and organisational skills; ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
- Legal research skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work within teams and individually using own initiative.
- Clientāfocused.
