The six‑year HD legal apprenticeship programme steadily builds towards qualification as a solicitor by studying initially the Level 3 Paralegal and then Level 7 Solicitor apprenticeships. This course is tailored towards college leavers. As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands‑on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff. The overall purpose of this role is to provide efficient support and assistance to the department in which the apprentice is working, whilst undertaking professional legal training.
Applicant must meet the eligibility and funding criteria for apprenticeships as set by the UK government at the point of enrolment. After this apprenticeship, you will achieve an LLB (Hons) in Law and Legal Practice and will sit the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) as part of your End‑Point Assessment, thereby offering a viable alternative route to qualification as a solicitor. It can unlock career paths in many specialisms by developing the relevant skills and knowledge required for your preferred future roles.
The Role
- Provide a general and confidential support service to the department and assist with general legal enquiries.
- Deal with first line enquiries made in person, by phone and by email.
- Help with the organisation and co‑ordination of formal court documentation and bundles for court hearings.
- Draft simple legal documents using standard templates and with legal guidance.
- Assist with the maintenance and accuracy of the Legal case management system and file keeping.
- Assist with collation and provision of information and statistical data as required.
- Assist with legal research.
- Greeting visitors and clients and providing refreshments for client meetings.
- Booking meeting rooms.
Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. College or training organisation: BPP UNIVERSITY LIMITED. Your training course: Solicitor – Equal to Level 7 (Master’s degree).
Essential Qualifications
- GCSE English Language – Grade 6 or above
- GCSE Mathematics – Grade 6 or above
- 3 A Levels – Grades ABB
