The Risk & Compliance team are looking to recruit a Compliance Officer based at our Preston office. The overall purpose of this role is to provide accurate, timely, efficient and professional support to the compliance team and wider Firm. This will enable the compliance team to ensure they operate within compliance standards and provide quality and timely support to service line teams.
The role:
- Dealing with routine compliance queries received by the Compliance Department and escalation where appropriate
- Reviewing referred AML checks and advising the Fee Earners appropriately within defined timeframe
- Provide administration support to the Risk & Compliance Manager
- Work closely with other operations teams to ensure project completion
- Timely acknowledgement of complaints and ensuring progression in line with complaints procedure
- Produce and distribute monthly compliance reports and circulating to Fee Earners
- Assist with the reaccreditation application process for CQS and Lexcel etc.
- Assist with collating data for the annual insurance renewals
- Dealing with file transfer requests
- Research changes in the laws surrounding compliance
- Maintain compliance records on the appropriate software
- Assist with data destruction projects
- Reviewing File Audit data to identify trends and provide feedback
- Assisting with Data Subject Access Requests
- Maintaining current policies and updating where necessary
- Assist with drafting new policies and implementing new processes
- Scheduling of in-house compliance training
- Effective and efficient Compliance support to Fee Earners
- Compliance registers and records are updated and critical dates diarised
Skills and experience:
- Basic understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory standards including:
- The SRA Codes of Conduct
- Anti-Money Laundering legislation
- Bribery and Data Protection legislation
Desirable experience:
- Previous role as a Compliance Officer in a Law Firm or other regulated industry
- Experience of Compliance software
- Law Degree or equivalent
- Industry compliance qualifications
