Help shape something from day one with the backing of an established, award‑winning firm. HCR Law has opened a new Shrewsbury office, strengthening our presence across England and Wales and bringing our network to 13 offices nationwide. This is a rare opportunity for a Corporate Partner to play a defining role in building our Shrewsbury corporate practice from the ground up while being fully supported by the scale, resources and reputation of our wider firm.

Why this role, why now? Shrewsbury has long been part of our strategic growth plan, driven by strong client demand in the region. You’ll be joining at the start of a new office story—able to make a visible impact locally—while collaborating with colleagues across our established office network and national teams. The Shrewsbury office is being developed as a full‑service hub, with colleagues across Family, Commercial, Restructuring & Insolvency, Employment and Immigration working as part of the local team.

The Corporate platform you’ll be joining: Our Corporate team is known for high‑quality M&A advice and a broad transactional offering, including work for international, PE and PLC clients. We advise on transactions typically in the £2m–£50m range, and also on larger deals up to £400m. You’ll be part of one of the UK’s largest corporate teams, recognised for deal volume—ranked No.1 in the UK by Experian for volume of corporate deals. We also have nationally recognised sector strengths including Health & Social Care and Dental transactional work.

The Shrewsbury opportunity: build a practice with “city-quality” ambition. This role could be ideal for:

  • A Partner (or aspiring Partner) who wants to continue doing sophisticated corporate work, while building a life and practice in the Shropshire countryside (without stepping away from quality or complexity).
  • A local/regional Corporate Partner already familiar with Shrewsbury or the wider Borders market, looking to join a larger, fast‑growing firm with the platform to support progression and expansion.

About You

What you’ll do: As Corporate Partner in Shrewsbury, you’ll:

  • Lead and grow our Corporate offering in Shrewsbury as part of a full‑service office build.
  • Drive M&A and broader corporate transactions, leveraging the depth of our national corporate team and sector expertise.
  • Develop strong referral relationships locally (and across the Borders), working closely with colleagues in complementary practices based in Shrewsbury and across the firm.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, cross‑office culture, our corporate team places strong emphasis on collaboration and opportunities to work across offices.

What we offer (the platform behind you): A firm with significant scale: 1100+ lawyers and support staff including 200+ partners. Recognised commitment to quality and client care, including the Law Society’s Lexcel quality mark. A corporate practice with a clear proposition, strong deal credentials, and established national specialisms. A Shrewsbury office that’s already underway, with a peer group who are all energised and aiming for the same goal.

About you: We’d love to speak with Corporate Partners (or senior corporate lawyers ready for partnership) who bring:

  • A proven corporate transactional track record (M&A focus welcomed), with the ability to win and grow client relationships.
  • Commercial pragmatism and a collaborative approach.
  • Ambition to build, whether that’s bringing an existing practice, or developing one with the support of a wider firm platform.
