Exciting opportunity for an experienced employment lawyer to join our market leading Employment, HR and Immigration team as a Professional Support Lawyer. This is a fantastic time to join our friendly and supportive Employment team as we grow and evolve our Employment, HR and Immigration practice. This Professional Support Lawyer will play a key role within our 50-strong Employment team, taking a leading role in shaping how we share knowledge, respond to legal change and deliver consistently high-quality advice to clients.
Employment law is changing at pace, and this role will be central to ensuring our lawyers are well equipped with the right tools, insight and training to remain responsive, accurate and ahead of the curve. Preference is for the role to be Cheltenham-based but it can be based in any HCR office. Hybrid arrangements and part-time or flexible working patterns will be considered.
The Employment team offers specialist advice on all aspects of Employment, HR and Immigration law. We are passionate about our work and care deeply about the people and organisations we support. Our clients are diverse and include PLCs, SMEs and major national and international employers, across both the public and private sectors — from education, healthcare and local government to manufacturing, aviation, recruitment and professional services, as well as private individuals, senior executives and public figures.
You will be supporting the Employment team by being the go-to person for legal knowledge, updates and best practice. This PSL Lawyer will:
- Stay ahead of developments in employment law, case law and legislation, turning change into clear, practical guidance that the team can use seamlessly.
- Take ownership and evolve the team’s precedents, templates and know-how, keeping resources accurate, relevant and accessible.
- Design and deliver high impact training, support CPD and inductions and help drive consistency and technical confidence across the team.
- Produce client alerts and thought leadership, support seminars and work closely with colleagues to strengthen the team’s reputation as trusted advisers.
- Continually look for smarter ways of working – using technology, automation and AI to improve efficiency and how knowledge is shared across the business.
- There may also be scope for limited fee-earning or client work, depending on experience and interest.
This is a key role within a highly regarded national Employment, HR and Immigration team with a large, busy and vibrant team. This is a new and pivotal role in the firm and you have the chance to help shape the approach to knowledge and training.
You may already be working as a PSL / Knowledge Lawyer, or be a technically strong Employment Solicitor looking to move into a professional support role. Ideally, you will have:
- Strong experience in UK employment law.
- Excellent drafting, research and communication skills.
- A genuine interest in keeping up to date with legal developments.
- Confidence presenting and delivering training to colleagues and clients.
- A collaborative mindset and the confidence to work independently.
- An interest in legal technology, innovation and improving ways of working would be a real advantage.
