About the Role
We're recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded further education college in Richmond, South West London, for an experienced Head of MIS and Funding to lead their Management Information Services function. This is a senior, college-wide role covering funding compliance, performance reporting and exams, with line management of both the MIS and Exams teams, reporting directly into the Vice Principal, Finance & Resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing strategic and operational leadership of the college's Management Information Service, ensuring all activity is underpinned by robust, accurate data
- Overseeing accurate and timely submission of statistical and funding returns, including production and audit of the ILR
- Advising senior leadership on funding developments from DfE, DWP and GLA and their impact on the college
- Leading on data provision for the annual Self-Assessment Report and Ofsted inspections, working closely with curriculum managers
- Developing and maintaining an accessible MIS portal to inform strategic and operational decision-making
- Acting as the college's main point of contact for awarding organisations and ensuring quality assurance systems meet their requirements
- Overseeing exam compliance and malpractice procedures through the Exams Manager, ensuring results are processed accurately and on time
- Supporting the annual curriculum planning process alongside the Vice Principal, Curriculum and Quality
- Managing the departmental budget and staff development across the MIS and Exams teams
About You
Essential:
- Proven experience leading an MIS function within a college or further education setting
- In-depth knowledge of external funding mechanisms and audit requirements, with experience producing and validating ILR returns
- Strong understanding of current Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation as it applies to learner data
- Excellent IT skills, particularly across MIS systems and MS Office
- Strong report writing and communication skills, able to present complex data clearly to senior stakeholders
- Experience managing and developing a team at senior level
- Degree level qualification, or equivalent relevant experience
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of SQL and SSRS
- Experience building dashboards in Power BI or SAP Crystal Reports
- Familiarity with sector systems such as ProAchieve or FIS
