An excellent independent school in Barnes is seeking to appoint an established and enthusiastic Teacher of Physics to join its successful Science department. The school is looking for a strong Physics specialist with demonstrable experience teaching Physics across KS4 and KS5, alongside the ability to teach Science at KS3. The successful candidate will be confident delivering high-quality, engaging lessons and will be able to support students across GCSE and A-Level.
The department offers AQA GCSE Separate Science, AQA Combined Science Trilogy and AQA A-Level Physics, so experience with AQA would be highly beneficial.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Planning, delivering and reviewing differentiated Physics and Science lessons
- Teaching Physics across KS4 and KS5, including GCSE and A-Level
- Teaching Science at KS3 where required
- Marking, assessing and tracking student progress in line with examination criteria
- Preparing students for public examinations
- Assisting with the setting and marking of examination papers
- Contributing to schemes of work, resources and departmental planning
- Supporting practical work, laboratory routines and safe use of equipment
- Creating a positive, well-managed learning environment
- Contributing to wider school life, including STEM activities, trips, visits and enrichment where appropriate
- Upholding safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times
The ideal candidate will have:
- QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
- Strong Physics subject knowledge
- Experience teaching GCSE and/or A-Level Physics
- Ability to teach KS3 Science
- A degree in Physics or a closely related subject
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- A confident, innovative and engaging teaching style
- Interest in educational technology and modern teaching resources
- A willingness to contribute to the wider Science department and school community
