About the Role
Harris Lee is recruiting a reliable, hardworking School Cleaner for a lovely independent school in the Uxbridge area. This role will start on a temporary basis via Harris Lee. Once you've shown you're the right fit, the school will offer you a permanent contract directly — giving you long-term job security, full school benefits, and a settled position within the team.
Working as part of a friendly cleaning team and reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for keeping designated areas of the school clean, hygienic, and welcoming for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Shift Pattern:
- Monday – Thursday: 3.30pm – 6.30pm
- Friday: 2.30pm – 5.30pm
- Plus 5 INSET / Staff Training Days
- Plus 1 week (15 hours) during school closure periods for deep cleaning
Your Day-to-Day
- Cleaning classrooms, corridors, offices, and communal areas
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors
- Cleaning and sanitising student and staff washrooms
- Dusting surfaces, ledges, skirting boards, and shelves
- Emptying bins and removing waste safely
- Restocking toilet paper, soap, and hand towels
- Reporting any maintenance issues or hazards to the Site Manager
- Following all health and safety procedures and COSHH guidelines
- Supporting deep cleaning during school closure periods
What We're Looking For
- Previous cleaning experience (school or commercial)
- Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain — we can arrange this)
- Awareness of health and safety / COSHH procedures
- Physically able to meet the demands of the role (mopping, hoovering, light lifting)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work to a routine
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- A positive, can-do attitude and pride in your work
- Right to work in the UK
During the Temporary Phase (with Harris Lee)
- Weekly pay at £12.85 per hour
- Dedicated support from your Harris Lee consultant
- A clear route to a permanent role with the school
Once You Go Permanent (with the school)
- Annual salary of £10,283.24 paid in 12 equal monthly instalments — so you're paid through every school holiday
- 12 weeks off per year during school closure periods
