We are recruiting an experienced Deputy SENCO to join a highly regarded independent SEN school in Central London, supporting pupils aged 13–16 with specific learning differences.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Deputy SENCO who wants to work in a genuinely specialist environment where SEN provision is central to the school’s identity, not an add-on. The successful Deputy SENCO will work closely with the SENCO, senior leaders, and a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding outcomes for pupils.
The role
As Deputy SENCO, you will support the strategic and operational delivery of SEN provision across the school. The Deputy SENCO will deputise for the SENCO where required and play a key role in EHCP processes, annual reviews, and liaison with external agencies.
Alongside your Deputy SENCO responsibilities, you will also act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, supporting safeguarding across the whole school.
This Deputy SENCO role is full-time and based on-site in Central London, with excellent transport links.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting the SENCO in leading SEN provision as Deputy SENCO
- Chairing and contributing to EHCP and annual review meetings as Deputy SENCO
- Supporting staff with SEN strategies and training as Deputy SENCO
- Liaising with parents, local authorities, and external professionals as Deputy SENCO
- Working closely with Speech & Language Therapists, OTs, and an Educational Psychologist as Deputy SENCO
- Acting as Deputy DSL and supporting safeguarding practice across the school
About you
- An experienced teacher with QTS
- Currently working as a Deputy SENCO, Assistant SENCO, or SEN professional ready to step up into a Deputy SENCO role
- Strong knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice
- Experience with EHCPs, annual reviews, and multi-agency working
- Confident supporting safeguarding as part of a senior SEN role
