We are currently working with a secondary school in Alresford, Hampshire, seeking an experienced Team Leader of Design Technology to join them on a permanent basis.

Location: Alresford, Hampshire
This is a hands‑on teaching and leadership position, with responsibility for leading the Design Technology department while continuing to teach across KS3 and KS4. The successful candidate will teach both Design Technology and Food Preparation & Nutrition and play a key role in developing teaching, curriculum and pupil outcomes across the department.
Key responsibilities:
- Teach Design Technology and Food Preparation & Nutrition across KS3 and KS4
- Lead and develop the Design Technology department
- Monitor standards of teaching, learning and assessment
- Develop engaging and effective schemes of work
- Monitor pupil progress and implement strategies to improve outcomes
- Support and mentor teaching staff within the department
- Manage departmental resources, workshops, studios and equipment effectively
- Maintain high standards of health and safety across practical teaching areas
- Contribute to the wider development of the school and department
The leadership responsibilities include monitoring teaching and assessment, departmental resources, staff development and pupil achievement.
Requirements:
- QTS or an appropriate route to Qualified Teacher Status
- Relevant degree / teaching qualification
- Significant experience teaching Design Technology within a secondary school
- Strong experience teaching across KS3 and KS4
- Good knowledge of the Design Technology curriculum
- Knowledge or experience of Food Preparation & Nutrition
- Ability to lead, support and develop colleagues
- Strong classroom practice and behaviour management
- Commitment to achieving strong outcomes for pupils
