Interim Finance Assistant 3-Month Fixed-Term Contract | On-Site | Immediate Start | St Albans

Are you a hands-on Finance Assistant with independent school experience, ready to hit the ground running? We’re working with a well-established education organisation in St Albans that is looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join its team on an initial 3-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can quickly get to grips with a new environment and make an immediate impact within a busy finance function.
What you’ll be doing:
- Preparing and reconciling balance sheet accounts
- Supporting month-end and year-end processes
- Working across fixed assets, prepayments and fees in advance
- Investigating and resolving reconciliation items
- Completing bank reconciliations, journals and general ledger tasks
- Supporting purchase ledger, sales ledger and cashbook activities
- Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Using PASS to process and maintain pupil-related financial information
- Supporting audit preparation and wider finance activities as required
What we’re looking for:
- Previous independent school finance experience
- Strong practical knowledge of PASS
- Proven experience with balance sheet reconciliations
- A solid understanding of month-end accounting processes
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisation
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines
- A proactive, flexible approach and the confidence to work independently
