Shadow To Shine is looking for a new CEO! This is a unique opportunity to lead a fast-growing and innovative youth charity that is growing at an ultra-fast pace and working with some of the biggest brands in the world. Shadow To Shine is a youth organisation that creates opportunities. We bridge the gap between young people and their professional goals, by levelling the playing field for young people from under-represented backgrounds. We offer training programmes, opportunities and networking possibilities to gain skills and access to working environments that can be hard to access.

In the 5 years we’ve been around, we have worked with over 500 young Londoners, partnered with global giants such as BP, Samsung, Sky and TCS and amassed over 150 mentors representing some of the most sought-after organisations including Vogue, Kloss, Twitter, HSBC, Bloomberg. We have successfully won a series of multi-year grants and are supported financially with large grants from the likes of Westminster Council, City Bridge Trust, Foyle Foundation, Clothworkers Foundation, Lloyds Bank Foundation and a number of other smaller funders.

Reflecting the nature of this exciting time and opportunity, we are looking for a dynamic individual with a lot of ideas and potential who is excited and ready to join an already successful, flourishing and reputable charity to take us to the next level. You will have the freedom to expand Shadow To Shine further with your own expertise and innovation. We are looking for a forward thinker, who can lead the organisation into our next phase.

Key details:

  • Salary: c.Β£65,000
  • Location: Hybrid, including our office at 5 Dorset Street, Marylebone, London, W1U 6QJ and multiple locations across London
  • Contract: permanent, full time

We welcome non-traditional applicants to this role and have a very active Board of Trustees who are willing to provide support to the new CEO to ensure they succeed. If you are a big vision thinker with a track record of making things happen, but you don’t have a lot of charity experience or CEO experience, we would still be interested in hearing from you if you can demonstrate:

  • Passion and commitment to young people, diversity, and employability.
  • Extensive experience in corporate partnerships or building relationships with senior decision-makers.
  • Understanding of the needs of diverse youth in London.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment and current socio-economic trends.
  • Familiarity with corporate partnerships and business strategy development.
  • Awareness of socio-economic trends impacting young people's employability.
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovative thinking in your work, developing and delivering on unconventional ideas.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills – able to horizon-scan, then develop and implement wide-reaching plans.
  • Leadership skills to motivate and engage volunteers, staff, beneficiaries, and prospective donors.
  • Advocacy skills to serve as the public face for campaigns and build relationships with stakeholders in politics, media, and business.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with beneficiaries, staff members, senior corporate executives, and opinion formers.
  • Financial acumen for setting and operating budgets and developing social enterprise activities.

Desirable: Background representative of or lived experience comparable to the diverse communities we work with.
