We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager / Estimator to play a key role in developing a new Industrial Refit Division within the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional who is forward thinking, proactive and confident managing multiple projects from a commercial and contractual perspective. You will be responsible for overseeing the commercial management of projects, supporting compliance and supply chain development and ensuring projects are delivered in line with Employer’s Requirements and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the development of a new division, including compliance, supply chain and commercial processes
- Managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects
- Producing monthly CVR reports for Directors
- Taking off materials well in advance and liaising with the Buying Department for procurement
- Preparing and issuing project specific cash flow forecasts
- Negotiating subcontract packages, issuing subcontract orders and managing subcontract variations and payments
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of current labour, plant and material costs
- Managing project accounts and keeping clients’ professional teams informed, including issuing monthly valuations and running accounts
- Agreeing final client and subcontractor accounts upon project completion
- Managing Contract Instructions, Technical Submittals and RFIs
- Undertaking value engineering exercises where appropriate
- Using construction management software packages effectively
- Ensuring projects meet Employer’s Requirements and client expectations
- Working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
Skills & Experience Required
- Candidates must have strong experience in the Industrial Refit industry and also have strong contacts within.
- Relevant experience in a Commercial Manager and/or Estimator role within the construction industry
- Strong commercial awareness and problem solving skills
- Forward thinking and proactive approach to planning and delivery
- Ability to work under own initiative and manage multiple priorities
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- Computer literate with a good working knowledge of:
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
