About This Opportunity
We are looking for an outstanding individual to join us as Faculty Director of English, Performing Arts and PE. The successful individual will be part of the senior leadership team and must be able to teach either English or Performing Arts. This role offers experience in leading key areas within the academy and developing skills for future Vice Principal and Principal roles.
Main Areas of Responsibility
- Drive the vision and aims of the academy.
- Lead the development and maintenance of a high‑quality learning environment.
- Assume full responsibility for teaching and learning in the key area.
- Ensure high‑quality teaching across the academy.
- Use data effectively with colleagues.
- Lead assessment and reporting programmes with the SLT.
- Support staff with high‑quality intervention programmes.
- Develop schemes of learning and advanced teaching skills.
- Raise student aspirations and achievement.
- Ensure equal access and participation for all students.
- Provide cross‑curricular skills and knowledge.
- Monitor, review and evaluate teaching and learning.
- Challenge under‑performance and maintain high standards of behaviour, learning and attainment.
- Act as a role model for high‑quality learning, teaching and assessment.
- Coordinate staff activities and lead/manage staff appropriately.
- Maintain high staff morale and uphold professional standards.
- Contribute to recruitment, training, deployment and professional development of staff.
- Lead meetings and support effective procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
- QTS (or equivalent) and a good undergraduate degree.
- Extensive teaching experience and outstanding teaching practice.
- Successful management experience as Head of Department or SLT member.
- Experience writing department SEF.
- Experience with lesson observations, feedback and improvement planning.
- Evidence of raising student achievement through effective strategies.
- Track record of managing and implementing change and improving teaching standards.
- Positive relationships with students, parents, staff and governing body.
- Demonstrated success in leadership and management.
