The Product Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of software projects, overseeing staff, support services, and all associated deliverables.

What the role will involve:

  • Lead, mentor and support a large cadre of experienced engineering individuals overseeing teams across the US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Own product intent, portfolio priorities, and trade-off decisions across assigned product lines, acting as the accountable voice for both engineering and product outcomes.
  • Devise and apply communications strategies to align a global, cross-functional workforce around product and delivery goals.
  • Engage stakeholders to reconcile strategic, commercial, and technical priorities – translating customer signal into product direction.
  • Assemble and monitor high-performance, multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Set objectives, monitor performance, promote communication, and ensure the well-being of direct reports.
  • Support administrative tasks to ensure timely processing of actions affecting direct reports.

Technical & Product Responsibilities:

  • Define and guard product intent – establishing what each product is, what it is not, and who it is for – and restate this when scope pressure arises.
  • Collaborate with team leads to review high-level architecture, internal project goals, and technical barriers.
  • Partner with stakeholders to refine project priorities and adapt deliveries based on evolving market and customer requirements.
  • Analyze program requirements and develop effort estimates in conjunction with program management partners.
  • Maintain depth in respective disciplines and contribute to ongoing software projects in research, engineering, or quality assurance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, process automation, quality engineering, or network operations.
  • Proficiency in high-level programming languages and operating systems (Linux, Windows, macOS, Android, iOS).
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity foundations; examples: penetration testing, offensive and defensive techniques, host and network forensics.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP communications, network security principles, and client/server architecture.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker), git workflows, and continuous integration/delivery platforms (e.g., Bamboo, Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab).
  • Knowledge and practical experience with agile software development methodologies.
  • 4+ years of experience leading a team.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Substantial experience in CNO development/offensive cyber security.
  • Experience in low-level programming languages and instruction sets.
  • Ability to install and operate developer debugging tools on Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS.
  • Experience with containerization, microservices, and DevOps practices.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Duties require working with a global team and may periodically necessitate working outside of normal working hours (evenings, holidays, and weekends).
  • Up to 10% travel required.
  • Ability to sit at a desk, look at a monitor, and type for extended periods of time in an office environment.
  • May be required to lift/move up to 25 lbs with assistance.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate and troubleshoot computers.
