Our Brighton business is moving to a new location in 2027. The new site is expected to be located in either Shoreham, Burgess Hill or Horsham and will be within a 15-minute drive of our current site.
About this opportunity and L3Harris UK Operating at 11 sites in the United Kingdom, L3Harris supports Britain’s mission to secure and strengthen the country by delivering sovereign innovation across the space, air, land, sea and cyber domains. L3Harris in Brighton are part of our Release Systems & Antennas division operating in the Aerospace domain. For over 70 years, L3Harris has designed and developed industry-leading carriage and release systems for fighter, rotary-wing and unmanned platforms and we design, manufacture and test a large portion of our release systems portfolio in our Brighton facility which offers 48,500 square feet of manufacturing space. Our mission-critical release systems equipment is on most major airborne fighter platforms worldwide, including the F-35, along with other aircraft like the Gripen and Typhoon.
The Security Controller is required to raise awareness of and maintain compliance with UK Government, Customer and Corporate Security requirements. They will manage the R&I Security program of work including risk management, incident management, classified document management, physical security, personnel security and local procedures. The role requires effective liaison with customers and colleagues, promoting a positive security culture at all times. The post holder will report directly to the Managing Director, with functional reporting line to the UK Security Director for security matters and will be a member of the L3Harris UK Security Team.

What the role will involve:
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with Ministry of Defence industry security requirements
- Physical security management including access passes, monitoring of access control system logs, CCTV review, working closely with Facilities team on building security requirements
- Leading the business continuity, crisis management and disaster recovery program, ensuring this is fit for purpose, including testing and continuous improvement
- Conducting security risk assessments and providing risk mitigation recommendations
- Process, maintain and review security vetting for all L3Harris Brighton based personnel
- Visitor security management including internal and external visit requests
- Conducting New Starter security training inductions and role-based security training
- Conduct internal security audits in line with Customer, L3Harris Corporate Policy and Data Protection Act 2018 requirements
- Provide Security input for external audits where required
- Supporting staff with advice and guidance to staff on all physical, personnel and procedural security matters
- Management of security incidents including containment, reporting, actions and lessons learned
- Maintaining the registration of security incidents and escalating as required
- Ensure that security is embedded in the supply chain by assessing security questionnaires, flowing security aspects letters and Cyber Security Model requirements, conducting due diligence activities and providing guidance and support
- Ensure compliance with Cyber Security Requirements
- Manage travel security
