The role is multi-faceted and involves coaching and mentoring, sharing of best practice, developing robust improvement strategies, assisting Harris academies in recruitment and selection, and helping to establish new departments or lead rapid recovery where required. Our central team consultants work strategically with Principals, senior leadership teams and support academy departments to improve standards and outcomes for our students. The post is primarily school-based and covers academies across London and Essex. The role is based at the Harris Federation office near East and West Croydon stations, with occasional meetings at the central office. Flexibility and willingness to travel are essential.

Responsibilities
- Provide coaching and mentoring to colleagues and share best practice across academies.
- Develop robust improvement strategies to raise standards and outcomes for students.
- Assist Harris academies with recruitment and selection processes.
- Help establish new departments or lead rapid recovery where required.
- Collaborate with Principals, senior leadership teams and support academy departments to drive improvement.
- Work across Harris Federation academies in London and Essex, with some travel between sites.
Qualifications and experience
- Experienced teacher with a deep passion for SEND.
- Experience in a middle leadership role and a track record of raising achievement within a department.
- At least three years of SEND teaching experience and two years in a management role such as SENDCo or Co-SENDCo.
- Thorough understanding of the needs of students with SEND and Quality First Teaching.
- QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant degree.
- Ability to work across London and Essex academies; willing to travel and flexible to location needs.
