We are an 'Outstanding' (Ofsted 2023) secondary academy, established in 2018 to provide an excellent education for children in Wimbledon. We are seeking a committed individual to join our Combined Cadet Force (CCF) as a Contingent School Staff Instructor (SSI). This part-time role involves supporting cadet training and helping students develop confidence, leadership, and teamwork skills. Applicants should have experience in the Regular, Reserve or Cadet Forces, or a strong willingness to learn and get involved.
The role is for 51 days per academic year and flexible across the year, aligned to CCF activities.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
- Supporting the Contingent Commander in running the CCF
- Administering CCF operations, including HR, payroll and MIS systems
- Organising and delivering military training with Section Officers
- Developing Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and supporting training attendance
- Acting as subject matter expert on CCF policy and procedures
- Managing security, maintenance and accountability of equipment and weapons
- Supporting the planning and delivery of CCF activities and events
- Ensuring high standards of health and safety compliance
- Liaising with sponsor units, service HQs and Cadet Training Teams
- Supporting wider educational activities, including STEM and outdoor learning
- Contributing to student development, attainment and engagement through CCF
- Promoting the academy ethos and supporting student wellbeing and safeguarding
- Participating in academy life, including evening, weekend and residential activities
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures
Qualifications & Experience:
- A full driving licence including D1 and D1E
- The willingness to undertake training and further qualifications to develop the role
- Effective and efficient administrative skills
- Computer literacy
- Experience of working with young people
- Excellent communication skills (including written, oral and presentation)
- A determination to develop skill set to meet the needs of the academy and cadets
- Resilience, the ability to calmly work under pressure and be able to meet deadlines
- Ability to think creatively and to prioritise
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- The ability to lead a team
