Rialtas, part of the global Harris Computer family, is looking for a Finance Systems Consultant to join its market‑leading accounting software business for local councils. This is an important role within the business and offers an exciting opportunity to support customers using our finance software, helping them get the most value from our solutions. You will work alongside a dedicated and inclusive team, providing expert guidance and resolving customer queries relating to finance processes used within Parish and Town Councils.
We’re looking for someone with strong communication skills, a helpful and problem‑solving mindset, and experience working with finance systems within parish or town councils. Your sector knowledge will enable you to quickly understand customer challenges and provide practical support. This is a full‑time, fully remote position, with occasional visits to our office in Uffcott, Wroughton near Swindon, easily accessible from Junctions 15 and 16 on the M4. Occasional travel to client sites or UK‑wide conferences may also be required.
What You Will Do
- Use your experience of how councils work to investigate and resolve issues, working with colleagues to find solutions and ensure customers are never left stuck.
- Keep customers informed throughout, managing their cases from first contact through to resolution with the kind of professionalism you'd expect in a council setting.
- Share your expertise by supporting new users, helping to develop guidance materials and training resources written in plain language that clerks and RFOs will instantly recognise.
- Build genuine, trusted relationships with customers — often people in roles just like the one you've come from — acting as a knowledgeable and reassuring point of contact.
- Support customers through the process of getting set up with our software, and be on hand to help them settle in confidently once they're up and running.
- Bring your real‑world perspective to product demonstrations and help the sales team show prospective customers what good looks like in practice.
- Stay connected to the sector through User Groups and industry developments, and feed that knowledge back into how we improve our products and services.
What We Are Looking For
- Strong understanding of finance processes within parish councils, town councils, or the wider local government sector – this experience is essential for the role.
- Experience working with council finance systems, accounting processes, or in a Responsible Financial Officer (RFO), clerk, or finance‑related role.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to investigate and resolve customer queries effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical or system‑related topics in clear and simple terms.
- While prior experience with our software is not required, you should be comfortable learning new systems quickly — we will provide full training on our products.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple support cases simultaneously.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a supportive team environment.
Benefits
Harris offers an extremely competitive UK employee benefits programme. Five personal days leave entitlement are granted over and above the standard 25 days holiday and bank holidays. Harris also offers all UK employees an annual Lifestyle Reward amounting £325 per annum (pro‑rata).
