Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Behaviour Mentor to support our students at Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich.

The actual salary for this role will be £35,221 - £37,368 (38 weeks per year, 42.5 hours per week).

Responsibilities

  • Support students' behavioural development within the academy.
  • Cherish a supportive environment that encourages growth and inspiration for pupils.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team of teachers and staff to maintain an excellent education experience.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Successful teaching experience at secondary level including KS5 (including teaching practice), ideally in multi‑ethnic urban schools and a 11‑18 setting.
  • Understand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learning.
  • Understand the importance of high expectations and equality of access for all students, and of being a tutor.
  • Knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4, and of writing lesson plans, developing resources and assessing students' work.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and to develop and maintain positive relationships with all staff.
  • Have a good level of ICT skills, ideally including innovative use of interactive white boards.
  • Be able to create a motivating and safe learning environment for all students.
  • Be able to communicate positively with parents, carers and other external agencies where necessary.
  • Have good written and spoken communication skills.
  • Be able to lead and manage their own work effectively.
  • Have excellent time management skills.
  • Be able to motivate students and raise their aspirations through a range of strategies.

About Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich

Opened in September 2009, Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich is part of the Outstanding Harris Federation. It is a boys’ school of 750 pupils, with a co‑educational post 16 provision in partnership with the nearby Harris Girls' Academy, together comprising a capacity of 400 Sixth Formers. The academy was judged to be outstanding by Ofsted in November 2023 and specialises in Enterprise and Sport.
