We are a family run Builders Merchant based in Croydon since 1912.
Full Time, permanent hours Monday to Friday 7.00am to 5.00pm (45 hours per week).
23 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, extra holiday rewarded after 5 years.

Requirements
- Previous experience with managing and planning transport logistics preferably for a builders merchant with an understanding of the related materials.
- Confident dealing with loading requirements for various vehicles, including HGV lorries 18T / 26T with cranes, 7.5T curtain side and vans.
- Confident with vehicle laws and regulations, including safe loading.
- Good understanding of the vehicle checks required for Health and Safety and transport laws, ensuring compliance at all times.
- Good routing and area knowledge of London and the Southeast.
- Confident using transport and logistic software.
- Confident managing the transport team of drivers.
- Able to adjust to last minute changes to customer orders and work well under pressure.
- Confident dealing with customers over the phone and face to face.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- All relevant certificates for the role of Transport manager, including OLAT.
- Willing to undertake training if required.

We are one of the largest independent Builders Merchants in the Southeast, with a sustainable and renewable energy training centre. We stock a vast array of materials required for all areas of the building trade, including Timber, Sanitaryware, Heating/Renewables and Plumbing. We have a restricted OLicence and are FORS Gold accredited also CLOCS.

This role requires:
- Someone who understands the importance of good customer service and has a professional approach to their duties.
- Someone to manage the day-to-day logistics of our fleet, working with our Transport supervisor, sales team, yard, and warehouse staff to ensure all customer orders are fulfilled efficiently, accurately, and safely.
- Someone who can manage their team of staff, including staff CPC training.
- Someone who can maintain accurate records and compliance documentation.
- Someone to liaise with our customers and drivers to ensure the smooth running of our delivery services, monitoring deliveries to ensure on time performance and resolve any issues quickly and professionally.
- Someone who can analyse driving and vehicle data to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
- Ensure our vehicles are maintained and serviced as required, including PMIs and MOTs.
- Someone to build good business relationships with both existing and new customers.
- Someone who can assist with FORS audits and administration.
