I’m currently working with a leading global commodities trading organisation that is looking to hire an experienced Market Data Engineering Team Lead to drive the strategy, architecture, and delivery of its enterprise market data platform.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of market data services, working closely with Trading, Risk, Quant and Technology teams to build scalable, high-performance data solutions that support critical business functions.
- What you’ll be doing
- Lead and mentor a high‑performing Market Data Engineering team while remaining technically involved in architecture and key engineering decisions.
- Define and execute the market data engineering strategy and technology roadmap.
- Design and deliver a modern market data platform supporting both real‑time streaming and batch data processing.
- Drive the development of a unified market data model to simplify vendor integrations and improve downstream data consumption.
- Own the operational stability of the market data platform, including BAU support, incident management and continuous improvement.
- Manage integrations between market data platforms, ETRM systems and downstream trading and risk applications.
- Partner with Quant Engineering, Trading and Risk teams to ensure market data supports pricing, analytics, valuation and risk models.
- Act as the senior technical authority for market data architecture and engineering across the business.
- What we’re looking for
- Strong experience leading Market Data Engineering or Data Platform teams.
- Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise market data platforms.
- Deep understanding of market data ingestion, transformation and distribution across streaming and batch architectures.
- Experience building scalable, resilient and high‑performance data pipelines.
- Strong Python and data engineering background with the ability to guide engineering standards and review technical designs.
- Hands‑on experience managing platforms such as Zema and integrating them with ETRM systems.
- Strong knowledge of data quality, ETL/ELT processes and operational support models.
- Experience working with Quant, Trading and Risk teams.
- Previous experience within commodities trading, energy trading or financial services is highly desirable.
