Head of Data Management | Asset Manager in London | Up to £160,000 basic + Bonus | Hybrid
My Asset Management client in London are seeking a Head of Data Management to help shape their Data & AI strategy across the business. They are an established player with over £60Billion AUM and offices across the globe.
You will be leading a team of 12 in London who are focused in Governance, Market Data and Operations, whilst working closely with the AI and Data Engineering teams. This a hybrid role requiring 2/3 days in the Central London office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the enterprise-wide data strategy aligned with AI and advanced analytics use cases.
- Partner with data science and business leaders to identify, enrich, and mobilize data assets for innovation.
- Promote enterprise-wide data discoverability and accessibility for ML/AI-driven insights.
Governance & Quality Control
- Design and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and quality standards.
- Oversee metadata, reference, and client/fund data management to support transparency and compliance.
Market Data Oversight
- Lead vendor management and integration for third-party market data (e.g., Bloomberg, MSCI, etc.).
- Align market data provisioning with front-office, research, and analytics requirements.
- Optimize licensing, budgeting, and compliance with vendor agreements.
Data Operations
- Direct daily data ingestion, transformation, validation, and reconciliation processes.
- Own security master data across all asset classes (equities, fixed income, alternatives, derivatives).
- Design and scale automated workflows ensuring accurate and timely delivery of mission-critical data.
- Shape a cloud-native, scalable data architecture to support analytics, AI, and reporting.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to maintain resilient, real-time data platforms.
- Enforce best practices for data storage, security, and access management.
Compliance & Risk
- Ensure global compliance with privacy and data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Implement frameworks for ethical AI, anonymization, access control, and data retention.
- Represent data strategy during audits and regulatory reviews.
Leadership & Culture
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team across governance, operations, and engineering.
- Cultivate a data-first culture through education, alignment, and evangelism.
- Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership across investment, operations, compliance, and tech.
