I'm working with an exciting client in the competitive gaming and esports space who are looking for a Senior Quantitative Analyst to join their trading team.
The Role
Reporting into the Head of Sports Trading, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of sophisticated sports betting pricing models and algorithms for esports content. You will work closely with the technology and development team, product stakeholders and the data analytics function, providing crucial analytical support to the trading team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and continuously update sports betting pricing models and algorithms to ensure accuracy and generate high margin betting opportunities.
- Leverage machine learning techniques to improve the accuracy and efficiency of pricing models.
- Continuously evolve models through the use of new data points including rich in-play game data, customer profitability data and live betting liability data.
- Provide analytical support to the trading function, helping to optimise strategies and improve overall performance.
- Collaborate closely with the data analytics team to understand available data and provide clear direction on requirements.
- Own the full development lifecycle of models across all environments, from Dev to Prod.
- Document all models, processes and algorithms clearly for use across the team.
- Support the development of direct reports and contribute to building team capability.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics or Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience as a Quantitative Analyst within the sports betting industry.
- Proficiency in Python, R, Java and/or C#.
- Experience with machine learning techniques and algorithms.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience modelling American Football, Basketball, Soccer or Baseball.
- Familiarity with agile development processes.
- Experience with big data technologies and cloud computing platforms.
- Understanding of Bayesian methods and Game Theory.
- Experience managing and developing direct reports.
