This position is responsible for overseeing the Diagnostics and Clinical Laboratory Product portfolio in Northeast. It involves managing and nurturing the company's commercial relationships and interests across specific geographical territories and/or market segments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of assigned clients.
- Cultivating new business opportunities from existing accounts.
- Actively seeking new sales prospects.
- Sustaining and growing revenue streams while optimizing profits in alignment with company goals.
- Direct selling, providing sales support, strategic planning, account and project management, as well as marketing initiatives.
This is a field-based role requiring weekly travel.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain and develop sales opportunities with existing clients.
- Identify and prospect new clients; develop new business opportunities.
- Upselling and cross-selling from the company product portfolio and identifying areas of sales improvement to meet assigned targets.
- Arrange and conduct customer meetings, allocating 4 days per week for this and arranging up to 6 customer appointments per day.
- Visit customers as necessary to support direct sales initiatives.
- Attend trade shows where appropriate and necessary to develop new business opportunities.
- Negotiate contracts and close agreements to increase revenue streams and maximize profits.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all assigned customers, handling all account management matters.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships, at all levels of management and responsibility, with current customers and accounts.
- Ensure clients receive requested products and services in a timely fashion.
- Communicate client needs to, and liaise with, internal staff to ensure the provision of appropriate customer service.
- Forecast and track client account metrics.
- Manage projects within client relationships, ensuring the timely and successful delivery of business solutions according to customer needs and company objectives.
- Handle multiple clients simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
- Maintain records of client transactions on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, including effective use of Customer Relationship Management software.
- Clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly sales initiatives to internal and external stakeholders through written reports and presentations.
- Monitor and forecast key account metrics (e.g., quarterly sales outcomes and annual forecasts).
- Maintain a good level of product and market knowledge including trends and market reform.
- Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed.
- Maintain appropriate company records and submit in line with deadlines.
- Keep up-to-date with product knowledge, market activities, competitive products, and industry trends.
Requirements:
- 2+ years experience in clinical sales/scientific sales with proven track record of achieving targets and KPIs.
- Life Science or Chemistry degree.
- Experience in working in the NHS advantageous.
- Good analytical, written, and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of the values of teamwork, hard work, and determination.
- Ability to work independently within a collaborative team structure.
- Full UK driver's licence.
