Working as part of a Product Specialist team, this role supports Sales Account Managers in developing opportunities and increasing revenue within a specialist biochemistry product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the sales team to support customer-facing sales activities, including on-site customer support across the UK. International travel will also be required.
  • Following strategic direction from Sales Account Managers, develop and deliver technical support plans aligned to customer needs.
  • Provide technical sales support to help identify and develop opportunities that increase revenue within the Specialist Biochemistry portfolio.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders to gain customer insight and expand professional networks.
  • Act as a customer-facing Product Specialist by:
    • Delivering sales and technical presentations
    • Handling technical enquiries and troubleshooting
    • Supporting account planning
    • Conducting site visits
    • Supporting analyser installations
    • Delivering customer training
  • Maintain up-to-date technical and market knowledge, acting as a key point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the sales team in developing and delivering compelling value propositions aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Support market penetration while considering the competitive landscape and maintaining profitability.
  • Identify new product opportunities within specialist biochemistry.
  • Provide timely market intelligence to inform marketing and management decisions.
  • Analyse competitor strengths and weaknesses and recommend strategies to enhance competitive positioning.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to maximise commercial outcomes.
  • Lead market launches for new products, including internal training where required.
  • Contribute to tender documentation as necessary.

Personnel Specification

Essential Qualifications / Attainments

  • BSc in Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline
  • 3 + years of commercial experience within the UK IVD market or Qualified Biomedical Scientist
  • Experience with IVD products, ideally within biochemistry
  • Practical application and customer training experience, presentation and product demonstration experience
  • Ability to network effectively across multiple organisational levels
  • Understanding of technical aspects of R&D and product development
  • Experience supporting new product launches

Desirable

  • Marketing experience
  • NHS or equivalent clinical laboratory experience
  • Understanding of NHS tendering and procurement processes
  • ISO15189 verification and product implementation experience
  • Commercial or customer service background

Circumstances and Interests

  • Willingness to attend scientific conferences and meetings (UK and internationally)
  • Frequent UK travel with occasional overnight stays
  • Flexible working hours as required
