An established supplier of life science products is seeking a motivated and commercially focused Territory Sales Manager to drive growth across the Oxford and Cambridge scientific communities. This field-based role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing existing customer relationships, and growing revenue within academic research, biobanking, hospitals, biotechnology, CRO, and drug discovery sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding market presence and achieving ambitious sales targets across a high-potential territory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell a comprehensive portfolio of life science products and consumables.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop new sales opportunities across the territory.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing customers.
  • Manage and grow customer accounts to maximise revenue opportunities.
  • Conduct regular face-to-face customer meetings, product demonstrations, and presentations.
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and CRM records.
  • Forecast territory performance and proactively manage gaps against targets.
  • Generate and follow up sales leads through prospecting, referrals, marketing campaigns, and cold outreach.
  • Organise and deliver virtual meetings, presentations, and product demonstrations where appropriate.
  • Support customer engagement activities, including on-site product showcases and exhibitions.
  • Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable solutions.
  • Monitor market developments, competitor activity, and industry trends.
  • Provide customer and market feedback to support business growth strategies.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers by delivering high levels of service and technical understanding.
  • Ensure all demonstration equipment and product samples are maintained and managed appropriately.

Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

  • Degree (or higher qualification) in a Life Sciences discipline such as Molecular Biology, Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Practical laboratory experience within a life science environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a passion for sales and business development.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the territory (typically four days per week).
  • Comfortable delivering both in-person and virtual customer presentations and demonstrations.
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and results-driven.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and develop relationships with new customers.
  • Confidence in prospecting and generating new business opportunities.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous sales experience within the life sciences sector.
  • Experience selling laboratory consumables, reagents, or related products.
  • Existing knowledge of research institutions, hospitals, biotechnology companies, or pharmaceutical organisations within the Oxford and Cambridge region.
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
