A leading global industrial distribution business is looking for a senior Interim Global Customs Specialist to strengthen its international trade compliance framework and help shape its customs strategy for the future. This is a high-impact contract role within a complex, multi-regional organisation undergoing significant transformation — including a new EU trading model and an SAP S4HANA implementation.
THE ROLE
- Assess and strengthen the global customs compliance framework, policies, and controls
- Review and optimise import/export processes and customs procedures across global operations
- Evaluate the customs broker and logistics provider landscape and make recommendations
- Monitor regulatory developments (UK/EU, US, APAC) and advise on risks and opportunities
- Provide strategic recommendations on the future customs landscape — including AEO and Central Customs Clearance
- Work with Global Process Owners to shape the SAP S/4HANA customs design, including SAP Global Trade Services
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 10+ years' experience in global trade and customs compliance at a senior level
- Proven track record in cross-border compliance programmes across multiple regions
- Experience with customs solutions in an SAP environment; SAP S/4HANA and SAP GTS a strong advantage
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders from operational through to regulatory level
- Strategic thinker who can turn complex customs challenges into clear, actionable plans
