The Dental Workplace Assessor is responsible for carrying out observations of apprentices in dental practices. The role involves planning and preparing for observations, carrying out the observations, and providing feedback to apprentices and their employers. The ideal candidate will be a qualified dental nurse with experience of working in a dental practice and be qualified with a CAVA Assessing qualification.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare for observations
  • Carry out observations of apprentices in dental practices, using a variety of assessment methods, including observation, questioning, and reviewing evidence.
  • Provide feedback to apprentices and their employers, using a variety of methods, including written reports, verbal feedback, and coaching.
  • Maintain accurate records of observations and feedback.
  • Send the written observations back to the Dental Educationalist in charge of caseload
  • Arrive promptly at each observation.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified dental nurse with active GDC registration
  • Experience of working in a dental practice
  • Experience of carrying out assessments and holding a current CAVA/Assessing qualification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to use a variety of assessment methods
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
