We are looking for an experienced Consultant Business Immigration Solicitor (minimum 8 years PQE) to join Harper James. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a growing and diverse client base ranging from innovative start-ups to established national and international businesses, advising on a broad range of UK business immigration matters within a modern, tech-enabled law firm.

As a consultant within our flexible model, you will manage your own caseload while benefiting from the support, infrastructure, and collaborative culture of a forward-thinking national firm.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You will take the lead on a wide range of business immigration matters, supporting businesses with the strategic and operational aspects of employing international talent and navigating the UK immigration system.
  • You will work closely with founders, HR teams, in‑house counsel and senior business leaders, providing clear, pragmatic advice that supports commercial objectives while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • As part of the wider Harper James legal team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across Corporate, Commercial and Employment teams where immigration issues arise within broader transactions, restructures, or international expansion projects.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 8 years’ PQE with a strong focus on UK business immigration.
  • Demonstrable experience advising corporate clients on sponsor licences and skilled worker routes.
  • Strong knowledge of Home Office policy, sponsor compliance obligations and right to work requirements.
  • Ability to manage matters independently and deliver pragmatic, commercially focused advice.
  • Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Confidence working with founders, HR leaders and in‑house legal teams.
