About HarperCrewe

The housing industry has been building the same way and marketing the same way for too long. HarperCrewe is here to change that, borrowing the best thinking from outside the sector to redefine what consumers expect, deserve, and demand from their housebuilder. We build homes that fit into places, not just plots, creating neighbourhoods that connect people and stand the test of time. We're at a genuinely formative moment: the product is strong, the pipeline is growing, and the brand is being built with intent. For us, just enough is never enough.

The role

HarperCrewe is growing fast, and marketing is growing with it. Consumer expectations have fundamentally shifted. They demand transparency and experiences that rival the best consumer brands, not just the best housebuilders. We intend to meet that bar. This role exists to lead that charge.

The 5 year strategy is written and the ambition is clear: five years to definitive choice. You'll own the delivery of that strategy across five pillars:

  • Customer Connections
  • Technology with Soul
  • Cultural Pioneer & Societal Catalyst
  • Market Leadership via Innovation
  • Excellence Through People

You won't be doing this alone. HarperCrewe works with a strong network of specialist agencies across creative, digital, media, CRM, and technology, experienced partners who are already embedded in the business and ready to deliver. Your job is to lead them with a clear brief and a high bar, and over time, as the team grows, you'll make considered decisions about what is best brought in-house and what is better kept with specialist partners.

You'll report to the Sales Director and work hand in hand with the sales team, using data, CRM, and smart deployment of AI and automation to sharpen lead generation, improve conversion, and reduce the sales cycle. This isn't a strategy-only role. You'll be hands on in the near term, building the internal function as you go, with a clear phased team plan to deliver against through to 2030.

What you'll be doing

Five pillars. One vision. Your job is to lead across all of them.

Customer Connections

You sit at the intersection of marketing and sales performance. Own the CRM strategy and implementation, using automated nurturing workflows to improve lead to sale conversion. Oversee lead generation from initial enquiry through to sales handover. Work hand in hand with the sales team to ensure marketing qualified leads meet conversion targets, track what's working at every stage of the funnel, and report back with clear, actionable insight. Marketing's job here is to sell homes. That's the measure.

Define and protect how HarperCrewe shows up, in sales suites, on social, in trade press, and at a local level around each development. Beyond bricks and mortar, we're building the foundation for how people live, connect, and thrive. The tone, the look, the message, the PR, the partnerships: you set the standard and hold the line on it.

Technology with soul

Drive optimisation of the martech stack, including CRM, marketing automation, analytics platforms and AI driven tools, to deliver premium experiences with smart efficiency. Manage data architecture to enable hyper personalised, plot level marketing at speed. Ensure GDPR compliance and data governance across all customer touchpoints. Our technology infrastructure doesn't replace humans, it makes the complex simple and the ordinary extraordinary.

Market leadership via innovation

Run campaigns across paid, owned and earned that generate real leads and reservations. Lead the agency network, setting the brief, holding the standard, and getting the most out of partners. Own the marketing budget and be accountable for ROI, finding efficiency gains year on year as the function matures. Lead with AI and automation: nobody in housebuilding has cracked this yet. We want someone actively exploring the right questions, willing to test, learn, and build something others in the sector haven't caught up to yet.

Excellence through people

Inherit a small but keen marketing team and build it into something high-performing. You'll be making hires and setting the bar. Start by doing. Build a team that operates with pace, ownership, and pride in the work.

What we're looking for

  • Experience leading or building a marketing function, with a genuine interest in how places, homes and communities are shaped
  • Deep familiarity with CRM platforms and marketing automation, and a track record of using them to improve lead to sale conversion
  • Genuinely hands on with AI and automation tools, someone actively experimenting, not just aware of the conversation
  • Comfortable owning both brand strategy and performance marketing, and understanding how the two reinforce each other
  • Strong commercial instincts and a data led approach. You understand that marketing exists to sell homes, not just to look good
  • Experience managing budgets and delivering measurable ROI, with an eye for efficiency as the function scales
  • Confident, exacting client skills when working with agencies, able to write a tight brief, push back constructively, and hold partners to account
  • A builder mentality, energised by ambiguity, not threatened by it. Someone who creates structure rather than waiting for it
  • High standards for creative quality and an eye for what makes a brand feel like a cultural pioneer, not just a housebuilder
  • Solid understanding of GDPR and data governance obligations in a customer marketing context

Why this role

Most marketing leadership roles are about running something someone else built. This one is about building it. The 5-year strategy is written, the pillars are set, the agency network is in place. What's needed now is someone who sees the scale of that ambition and wants to be the one who delivers it. Hands on, commercially sharp, excited to build something the industry hasn't seen before and bold enough to make it happen.
