Overview
Our Finance department is made up of two teams: Group Finance (management accounting, financial reporting, sales analytics, royalty, treasury, accounts payable and procurement) and Commercial Finance (in our publishing divisions, covering book budgets, forecasts, acquisitions and strategies).
We’re committed to telling more stories in more places, and we manage our e-books, website and online shop, along with our Facebook and Instagram accounts. We focus on innovation in digital products and work with global digital retailers so readers everywhere can access our titles.
We create audiobook editions of our titles, working with authors, publishing teams, narrators and studios to produce audio formats for platforms like Audible and Apple.
We collaborate closely with authors from idea to publication, providing reading, editing and advisory support and maintaining attention to detail and a love of writing.
We manage relationships with customers—shops, online stores, supermarkets, schools and museums—and coordinate with Editorial, Marketing, Publicity, Production, and Supply Chain & Distribution to understand what works across divisions, genres and markets.
We handle licensing opportunities for our books, including selling rights, adaptations to TV/film, and translations, to help authors reach new readers and grow the business.
We create covers, layouts, illustrations and branding for titles, collaborating with Editorial and Marketing from brief to publication. We may use Photoshop or InDesign, and we also work with illustrators or picture researchers.
From costing the paper, printing, binding, and design of finished titles, we collaborate with all teams to produce books on time and within budget. We have specialist Marketing, Editorial, Rights, Design, Production, and Technology groups across divisions to promote titles and initiatives.
We share business information across the company, advise on PR strategies and media relationships, and coordinate internal events and external opportunities like international book fairs.
We oversee Technology: systems development, operations and services, and the Information Technology team maintains our processes and solutions across HarperCollins UK.
We manage all products from distribution center to customers, including packaging, inventory, storage and logistics, supported by our Finance & Technology team for supply chain and distribution services.
We value our people and aim to create an inclusive environment that supports learning, transformation, culture, pay and benefits, diversity and recruitment and retention, along with performance management.
We work on projects across the company, valuing businesses, conducting acquisitions, and aligning growth strategies. We are connected with HarperCollins worldwide and with sister companies News UK, Dow Jones and Wireless.
