As Publicity Assistant you will join Barrington Stoke’s small and friendly, highly effective and hard-working Marketing and PR team. You will be working with big name, established children’s authors and illustrators, for an innovative award-winning imprint, which specialises in publishing top quality accessible short fiction to enable every child to become a reader. This role is ideally suited to an organised and detail-focused candidate who has initiative and energy. We are looking for someone with a passion for children’s books, PR and marketing, who is looking to kick start their career in the publishing sector.

Key Tasks And Accountabilities

  • Support the PR Manager with all new title campaigns, backlist promotion and author care
  • Organise Press Mailings
  • Support author and company events, coordinating logistics, sending materials and book stock (some weekend and evening work required)
  • Handle award submissions and associated tasks
  • Organising author travel
  • Assist with key publicity tracking documents
  • Stay in tune with children’s publishing to maintain awareness of the market

Skills Required

  • A motivated and proactive self-starter with a can do attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
