An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Head of Transport Operations to join the senior leadership team. This is a pivotal operational leadership role where you will be responsible for overseeing a large-scale 24-hour transport and warehouse operation, ensuring exceptional service delivery, operational efficiency, compliance, and team performance across multiple functions. The successful candidate will play a key part in driving operational excellence, maintaining high compliance standards, and supporting the long‑term stability and reputation of excellence of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day‑to‑day operation across transport, warehouse and night‑shift functions within a 24‑hour operation.
- Manage operational performance, service delivery, KPIs, budgets and customer expectations.
- Provide visible, hands‑on leadership across the operation, supporting managers, supervisors and drivers.
- Oversee compliance relating to O‑Licence regulations, drivers' hours, tachograph analysis and fleet operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operational processes, safety and efficiency.
- Build strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Support operational reporting, workforce planning and long‑term succession planning.
What We're Looking For
- Proven senior leadership experience within transport, logistics or distribution operations.
- Strong knowledge of UK transport compliance, including DVSA and O‑Licence requirements.
- Experience leading multi‑shift or 24‑hour operational teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing operational budgets and performance.
- Operator CPC qualification preferred, or willingness to obtain within six months.
- A hands‑on leadership style with the ability to build trust across operational teams.
