Harper Recruitment Group are working in partnership with a well-established and fast-growing business. They are looking for a Graduate Assistant Accountant to support the finance team with month-end reporting, reconciliations, VAT, stock, and commercial analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate looking to build a career within management accounts in a commercial environment.
What will the role involve?
- Supporting the preparation of accurate month-end management accounts
- Assisting with weekly stock takes and stock management, including adjustments and analysis
- Posting monthly prepayments and accruals journals
- Posting general journals as required
- Reviewing overheads to ensure accuracy and correct allocation
- Completing month-end bank reconciliations
- Daily cash posting
- Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintaining tight reporting deadlines
- Preparing and submitting monthly VAT returns
- Updating and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register
- Assisting with preparation of cash flow forecasts
- Producing key sales and production reports daily, weekly and monthly
- Supporting the Lead Management Accountant with ongoing tasks and projects
- Contributing to process improvements across the finance function
- Assisting with the preparation of the annual budget
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support operational needs
- Completing supplier payment runs
- Providing ad-hoc support to the finance department as required
Who are we looking for?
- A recent graduate in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or a related discipline
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and solve problems
- Able to work to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High level of attention to detail with strong organisational skills
- Process-driven with the ability to challenge existing methods and support improvements
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise workload
- Confident, motivated and eager to learn within a commercial finance environment
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Interest in progressing with AAT/ACCA/CIMA study support
