We are working with a growing, multi-disciplinary MEP consultancy that is expanding its Mission Critical capability across the UK and Europe. They are now seeking a senior Electrical Technical Director to lead, shape, and grow their Mission Critical offering, with a particular focus on data centre delivery. This is a leadership role for an experienced electrical engineer with deep data centre design expertise, strong commercial awareness, and the credibility to operate at board and client level. The role combines technical leadership, team development, and strategic growth within a high-performing engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the Mission Critical electrical team, including capability development and headcount growth aligned to revenue.
- Act as a senior technical authority across complex data centre projects from concept through detailed design.
- Oversee delivery to ensure client satisfaction, technical quality, and commercial performance.
- Provide technical leadership across MV/LV distribution, substations, UPS, generators, and critical systems.
- Review and sign off electrical designs and technical outputs across the portfolio.
- Support fee proposals, bids, and commercial negotiations.
- Represent the business at industry events, client meetings, and sector forums.
- Mentor and develop senior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
- Work closely with the Board Director on strategy, business development, and client relationships.
- Report on Mission Critical performance, risk, and growth to the board.
Candidate Profile
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer with CIBSE, IET, or equivalent and Engineering Council registration.
- 10+ years experience delivering electrical design within the data centre or Mission Critical sector.
- Strong understanding of redundancy, resilience, and data centre tiering systems.
- Experience across hyperscale, colocation, and edge data centre environments.
- Proven background in UK consultancy environments.
- Commercially astute with experience managing budgets, fees, and project risk.
- Confident communicator with the presence to operate at senior client and board level.
