Multi-Skilled Engineer in Corby

Are you a Multi-Skilled Engineer looking to develop your technical skills within a well-established, high-volume food manufacturing environment? This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy food manufacturing site in Corby, working across high-speed production and packing equipment supporting some of the UK’s best-known snack brands. You’ll play a key role in keeping production moving, combining planned and reactive maintenance with fault-finding, plant improvements and ongoing engineering activity across the site. This is more than simply a maintenance role. You’ll gain exposure to new technology, process improvement and wider engineering projects, with the opportunity to broaden both your electrical and mechanical capabilities. The business has a clear engineering development structure, providing opportunities to progress technically as your qualifications, training and site competencies develop. You will be responsible for, but not limited to: * Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across production, processing and packing equipment. * Responding quickly to breakdowns and engineering issues to minimise downtime and maintain production performance. * Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults and implementing effective repairs. * Completing planned maintenance inspections and identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability. * Supporting plant improvement activity and wider engineering projects across the site. * Working closely with Production and other site teams to resolve issues and keep manufacturing running efficiently. * Maintaining and repairing factory and plant-based equipment across different areas of the operation. * Identifying opportunities to improve machinery performance, uptime and ways of working. * Keeping up to date with new engineering technology, techniques and equipment. * Sharing technical knowledge and supporting other members of the Engineering team. * Ensuring all engineering work is completed safely, hygienically and in line with food manufacturing and site standards. * Maintaining accurate engineering records to support internal requirements and external audits. What’s required? * A recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification. * Strong practical engineering knowledge within a manufacturing environment. * Good electrical and mechanical engineering capabilities. * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills. * The ability to understand engineering drawings, symbols and technical information. * A proactive approach with the ability to work independently as well as part of a wider Engineering team. * Experience within food, FMCG or another high-volume manufacturing environment would be advantageous. * Previous experience working shifts would be beneficial. * A willingness to continue developing your electrical and mechanical engineering capabilities. * Flexibility to work an alternating day and night shift pattern, with shifts running 6am–6pm and 6pm–6am. What’s in it for you? A salary of approximately £48,321 to £53,691 depending on qualifications and competency, with a clear structure for technical development. Engineers with a relevant Level 3 qualification can enter the middle band, while the top band is available to those meeting the required qualification and multi-skilled competency criteria. You’ll join a stable, high-volume manufacturing operation with plenty of engineering variety, alongside opportunities to gain exposure to automation, process improvements and engineering projects.
